About Totlon

We publish the thing we wanted to read and could not find

Totlon covers business, technology, fitness, news and affiliate marketing — five subjects where good information is genuinely valuable and bad information is absolutely everywhere. Our job is to tell the difference, in writing you can act on the same day.

Our story

Started out of frustration, not a business plan

Totlon began because the same problem kept appearing in five unrelated places. Looking for a straight answer on pricing a service, on whether a laptop was worth the money, on how much protein actually matters — and finding pages optimised for search engines rather than readers, recommendations with an undisclosed motive, and confident writing with nothing behind it.

So we built the alternative. Long enough to be useful, short enough to finish, and honest about what we do not know. Where something can be measured, we measure it. Where we have a financial interest, we say so before you read on rather than after.

The beat

What we cover

Five areas, chosen because they are the ones our readers spend real money and real time on.

Business

Practical strategy, operations and growth for people actually running something.

Technology

What the new tools really do, what they cost you, and whether they are worth it.

Fitness

Training, nutrition and recovery advice built for busy, ordinary schedules.

News

The stories that move markets and budgets, explained without the noise.

Affiliate Marketing

How to build a recommendation business that readers actually trust.

How we work

Editorial standards

Four commitments that apply to every single thing we publish.

Independent

No brand pays for coverage, sees a piece before publication, or has any influence over a score. Ever.

Researched

Claims are sourced. Where we are relying on judgement rather than evidence, we say which it is.

Tested

Products are used for weeks in ordinary conditions before we score them, and we publish the numbers.

Transparent

Affiliate relationships are disclosed at the top of the page. Corrections are made openly, not quietly.

The team

Small, and deliberately so

Totlon is written by a small editorial team rather than a rotating cast of freelancers. It means we publish less than we could, and it means the person who tested something is the person who wrote about it.
